High-quality Reproduction
Maker: Reproduction.
High-quality hand-printed and hand colored reproduction of an antique print of Saint Peter's Basilica by Falda, 1729. Made using a combination of modern technology and traditional methods, wherein an original is scanned, its likeness is digitally etched onto an engraving plate, then the plate is used to print the image in the traditional way, with a printing press. The map is then hand colored and mounted onto linen cloth. This map consists of eight sheets that measure approx. 9.5 x 6.5 inches each with about 1/4 inch of linen visible between them. Total overall dimensions are approx. 19.5 x 26 inches to the paper edges. There is about two inches of linen margin beyond the paper that can be folded under when the map is framed. For other reproductions made in this method, please see the left side bar category "Digitally Engraved Specialty Reproductions".
A few ideas for hanging/framing a reproduction map on cloth:
1) You can fold the cloth at the top back and sew it, making a tube for a dowel to go through, and hang it like a wall map.
2) Magnetic poster frame hangers can be purchased from Amazon in a variety of sizes.
3) Gromets could be put into the cloth and the map hung on hooks.
4) Professional framing. This will protect the map best in the long run, especially if using acid-free materials and UV protective glass.
5) Pushpins.
