Antique map of Turkey and Armenia, with Syria and Mesopotamia. From Rollin's History, published by S. Walker, 1824. The Ten Thousand were a force of mercenary units, mainly Greeks, employed by Cyrus the Younger to attempt to wrest the throne of the Persian Empire from his brother, Artaxerxes II. Their march to the Battle of Cunaxa and back to Greece (401â ‚¬ €œ399 BC) was recorded by Xenophon, one of their leaders, in his work Anabasis. Very good condition with a couple very mild spots of foxing, and folds as issued. Measures approx. 8.25 x 12.75 inches to the neatline.
