Maker: Jacques-Gerard Milbert.
Antique lithograph print showing a scenic view of Cohoes Falls in New York, from Jacques-Gerard Milbert's Itineraire Pittoresque du Fleuve Hudson et des Parties Laterales published by Henri Gaugain between 1828 and 1829. The title is at the bottom in several languages. Jacques-Gerard Milbert (1766-1840) was a French naturalist, artist, geographer, and engineer. He spent eight years in the United States exploring and sketching the country, flora, and fauna. Original hand-coloring. This lithograph is from the first edition of the work. Very good overall antique condition with mild toning of the paper throughout, and a few spots of very minor foxing/soiling. Measures approximately 8" x 11.5" to the neatline not including text.
Note: any "rainbows" or strange patterns in the image are called moire pattern- caused by taking a digital photo or scan of the many parallel lines in the print- these are not in the print and we can try to take more photos if you are concerned.
