Antique coast survey chart showing the coast of the northeastern United States, from Portland Maine to Narraganset Bay Rhode Island, including Cape Cod and the islands. Cape Cod portion notes Shootflying Hill, Hyannis, Barnstable, Scorton Neck, Provincetown, Nauset Beach, Falmouth, Woods Hole, Mount Sehaum (Bourne Hill), etc. Indicates lighthouses around the coast. The key identifies Occupied stations, unoccupied stations, astronomical stations, magnetic stations, current stations, tidal stations, and the lines between each. Published by the US Coast Survey (USCS) in 1848. With folds, as issued. Good antique condition with some creasing, and small areas of foxing. Tight margin at bottom and top. Measures approximately 24" x 16.75" to the paper edges. Note: any "rainbows" or strange patterns in the image are called moire pattern- caused by taking a digital photo or scan of the many parallel lines in the engraved print- these are not in the print and we can try to take more photos if you are concerned.
