Genuine Antique Map

1795

Maker: Kitchin

Antique map of the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, Central America, and northern coast of South America. Made by Thomas Kitchin senior for the Rev. Dr. Robertson's History of America, 1795. Featuring an unusual version of Florida. Includes the West Indies, Virgin Islands, Windward Islands, Leeward Islands, Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and more. Every island seems to be labeled, as well as major ports. Decorative cartouche. Very good antique condition, with some mild image transfer aka ghosting. Some loss of the printing on the left side, particularly the border line. This map has been backed with light-weight paper by a previous owner. Approx. 12.5 x 19.5 inches to the neatlines.
