Antique black and white map of the southern part of South Africa by Arrowsmith for Rees' 1806 "The Cyclopaedia or Universal Dictionary". This map shows Port Elizabeth as Krakkama and East London as Residence of the King. Includes many tidbits of information about the moving of peoples and the local animals. Examples: "A Fine Pasture, Grain, and Fruit Country," "Plenty of Zebras in these Mountains," "Paintings of Animals in the Caves of these Mountains," etc. Very good overall antique condition, matted.
