Antique hand colored map of the United States from 1855 by Cornell and published by Appleton. Subtitle reads: Designed to Accompany Cornell's High School Geography. This is the United States just two years after the Gadsden Purchase of 1853 that added land to the area labeled on this map as New Mexico. Most of the west is divided into territories with some information but a lot of empty space. Shows land and water forms, rivers, cities, major roads, and part of the Bahama Islands and Cuba. Good antique condition with some very light minor staining and a seam separation that has been closed with archival tape. Two pages on verso- one map of New England and a page showing small maps of the Principal Cities of the United States. approx. 12.5 x 20.5 inches to neatline. **SOLD**
