Antique map of Western Africa, engraved for Malham's Naval Gazetteer, published by Spotswood and Nancrede, 1796. Shows some kingdoms and other local cultures, with information about the coast including bits of rivers, as well as "Zahra or Desert of Barbary" the Sahara Desert. Much of the middle of the African continent hadn't been thoroughly explored and mapped by Europeans at this time. Very good condition with slight water stains at upper right and lower left. Folds as issued. Measures approx. 9.25 x 7.25 inches to the neatline.
