Antique map of the Limoge area of France, from a composite atlas circa 1775. A composite atlas is an atlas made up of a selection of previously issued maps. This atlas appears to have been partly by Louis Charles Desnos and an atlas title page dated 1769 by Desnos was present. The full title translates to "THE DIOCESE OF LIMOGES Divided into its Eighteen Archpriests and the GOVERNMENTS of MARCHE and LIMOSIN In which it extends With THE DIOCESE OF TULLES Dedicated To Monsignor Anthony de Charpin de Genetines, Bishop of Limoges and Abbot of Piperac. By His humble and obedient servant IB Nolin, Ordinary Geographer to the King Corrected and augmented by St. Longchamps Geographer of March 17. Scale of Five Hours of Travel.". This map has original hand-coloring and shows cities, towns, villages, rivers, topographic detail, etc. Very good restored condition. This map has been archivally cleaned, deacidified, and backed. It retains some minor signs of age mostly in the margins. Measures approx. 19 x 24.25 inches to the neatline.
