Antique double-sided page of illustrations: on one side is a scene of demons. At bottom is a dedication: "To William Benge of Cosely Wood in Wadherst in the County of Sussex Gentleman. This Plate is humbly Dedicated by Richard Blome." From an illustration by G. Freman and engraved by J. Kip. On the other side is a scene of angels battling demons with a medieval city in the background. At bottom is a dedication: "To William Edgell of Clapton in the Parish of Hackney in the County of Midelesex Gentleman. This Plate is humbly Dedicated by Rich. Blome." Published in An Entire Body of Philosophy According to the Principles of the Famous Renate Des Cartes by Descartes and Le Grand, 1694. This is a comprehensive English translation of Antoine Le Grand's Cartesian system, edited by Richard Blome. Copper plate engraving on laid paper. Subtle hand-coloring on the angel side. Very good antique condition with some mild foxing. some small pieces of tape at the top edge of the demon side from previously being framed. Each image measures approx. 10.5 x 6 inches to the neatline.
