Antique engraved map of Syria, published under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. Shows the area along the Mediterranean Sea from Turkey to Egypt, including modern day Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, and Syria. Inset map shows the "Continuation from the Dead Sea to Mount Sinai on the same scale." Fine detail of townships, towns, roads and routes, landforms and water bodies. Hand-colored, very good condition, approx. 16"h x 13"w.
