Antique uncolored engraving of the ship Maria in the 1850s, published in Gleason's Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion in 1854. "She was built at the town of Pembroke, now Hanson, for a privateer during the revolutionary war. She was bought by William Rotch, a merchant of Nantucket, afterwards of New Bedford, in the year 1783, and in the same year she made a voyage to London with a cargo of oil." Additional information about the ship appears in the upper left corner of the page. Could be hand colored by our professional colorist for an additional cost.
