Printed Black and Red Genuine Antique Sheet Music

c. 17th century

Maker: Unknown.

Antique page of printed sheet music printed on both sides and on laid paper. The words to the music are in Latin. From the Easter Vigil, the Catholic service for Holy Saturday. It is part of the Exulted or Easter Proclamation, sung by the deacon before the Paschal Candle. A line of this page was also used in James Joyce's Ulysses where he may have been playing with the multiple meanings for the word Lucifer in the passage "inquam, Lucifer, qui nescit occasum" at the end of Proteus. Very good antique condition with some minor light staining and light water stain at top edge. Approx. 13.5 x 9 inches. *****SOLD*****
