Antique hand colored wall map of Rhode Island published by Isaac H. Cady in 1846. Colored by town with villages, cities, railroads, and trees throughout. Includes Narragansett, Block Island, Newport, Westerly, and more. Surveyed by James Stevens, with additions and corrections by S.B. Cushing and H.F. Walling. The text at lower left discusses various things including time, tides, locations etc. At lower right are the results of the censuses from 1820, 1830, and 1840. Good condition. Restored: cleaned, deacidified, backed with heavy archival paper. Many cracks and tears are still visible, although they are all repaired, and give this map a beautiful antique appearance. Approx. 41.5 x 26.57 inches to the neatline.
