Antique chart of Boston Harbor, from 1867 published by the US Coast Survey. Shows the coast from Nahant and Lynn Harbor to Scituate Harbor and includes the city of Boston, Hingham, Cohasset, Nantasket and the Boston Harbor islands as they were in the 1800s. The chart features some land detail, six recognition profiles, bathymetric information, sailing directions, lighthouses and light buoys, water depths, and more. Boston is shown in the process of the fill of Back Bay. This chart is in very good condition, recently professionally restored. It was cleaned, deacidified, and backed on washi paper. It retains some signs of age, including some slight stains, some repaired tears, and some infilled paper loss, including near Deer Island in Boston Harbor. Measures approx. 32.5 x 39.5 inches to the paper edges.
