Antique printed color map of the United States, USA, and part of Canada, from "The Physical Atlas of Natural Phenomena" by Alexander Keith Johnston, published by William Blackwood and Sons in 1856. This map is a very early example of the use of printed color. At the bottom of the page is a chart showing "A Geological Section across the Appalachian Mountains from the Coast of New Jersey at Egg Harbour to Lake Ontario near the Niagara River." In very good antique condition with some overall toning and very minor foxing, this piece measures approximately 20 x 24 inches. **SOLD**
