Restrike Chart
1857/1970s
Maker: U.S. Coast Survey.
Restrike chart of Woods Hole, part of Falmouth, MA on Cape Cod. The chart says that it was first published in 1857 and updated to 1896, however, this chart is a restrike. Restrikes are later prints made using the original printing plates, which means that they are a more authentic “reproduction" than any other type. Many restrikes were made in the 1970s, however it is difficult to know exactly when a restrike was printed. Includes significant coastal detail, as well as bathymetric data, sailing directions, and information on tides. With part of the Elizabeth Islands. This chart was mounted to a foam-core board. Very good overall condition, measures approx. 14 x 17.5 inches to the neatline.
