Black and white antique map of Chatham and surrounding waters, includes Pleasant Bay, Strong Island, Nauset Beach, Monomoy Beach, Stage Harbor, New Harbor, Chatham Lights, Stage Harbor Light, Mill Pond, and Oyster Pond. Other significant ponds are marked, and railway lines shown. The Hotel Mattaquason was built in 1894 by H. Fisher Eldredge on Shore Rd near what is today Wilkey Lane. It was originally called Dill House. The hotel was leased and then bought by Frederick Wiley in 1907, who renamed it the Mattaquason. Wiley enlarged the hotel and added cottages. In 1943 the hotel was leased to the Waves of the US Navy, then ownership passed to Wiley's daughter Dorothy Wilkey Frey. She and her husband Milton ran the hotel until 1956, at which time it was closed and demolished. With visible folds, as issued. Very good overall condition with tight margin at top and some mild creases. Small separation at top along fold was taped by a previous owner. Measures approximately 13" x 9.25" to the neatlines.
