Black and white high quality reproduction, 1894 map of Chatham on Cape Cod. As towns developed, detailed renderings of buildings and land features were desired. This example shows the land formed by geological moraine, with its many kettle-hole ponds. The makers of such maps developed a method using maps and sketches of notable buildings along with their knowledge and imagination to create a bird's-eye view without any need to leave the land! They made many of these types of maps for towns around New England. Size is 23"h x 32"w to the printed area. Paper may be larger but can be trimmed as needed.
