This antique hand colored map entitled, Map of South America, Designed to Accompany Cartee's Physical and Political Geography, was published in 1856 by Hickling, Swan, and Brown. Engraved by G.W. Boynton, this map includes major cities and geological features with a comparative mountain inset. It was originally published in A School Atlas of Physical Geography, Illustrating, in a Series of Maps Compiled from the Celebrated Atlases of A. Keith Johnston, and of Milner and Petermann, The Elementary Facts of Geology, Hydrology, Meteorology, and Natural History by Cornelius S. Cartee, A. M. Measuring 11 x 13.5 inches, this piece is in very good antique condition with minor toning and foxing.
