Antique map of the Falkland Islands and parts of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands from the Atlas Encyclopedique by Bonne and Desmarest, 1788. Shows some towns, some topography. This map references Sir Richard Hawkins' (later disputed) sighting of the Falkland Islands, which he named Hawkins Maydenlande after himself and Queen Elizabeth. Good to very good antique condition with minor signs of age such as small minor spots, slight image transfer, and overall toning that is darker at the paper edges. Measures approx. 9.25 x 13.75 inches to the neatline.
