1851
Maker: Wilhelm Nitzchke.
Antique hand colored celestial map published in the Astronomischer Bilder Atlas, by Wilhelm Nitzchke, 1851. Written in German. "Hold To Light" maps as this have cut outs with filmy paper behind them so that when you hold them to the light, the light can shine through certain parts. In this Hold To Light, the phases of the moon become gently illuminated when the light passes through the light-weight paper. Moon Phases are backed with yellow parchment. Both decorative and informative, these types of maps can be custom framed by us with glass on both sides for the light to shine through them. Good to Very good overall antique condition with mild toning and foxing throughout, some very minor roughing of the outer edges, and some lines in orange and blue pencil which underline portions of the text surrounding the map. Page measures approximately 9.25" x 11.5" (H x W) overall. **SOLD**
