Hand-colored antique coastal report chart by the US Coast Survey, published in 1851. Shows the entrance to Humboldt Bay in California with an inset map of the larger area of Humboldt Bay. Shows the towns of Humboldt, Bucksport, Eureka, and Union (some names have changed over time). Includes good coastal detail, bathymetric data, and tidal information with locations for proposed beacons and lighthouses. Hand coloring is recent. With folds, as issued. Very good overall antique condition with very mild toning throughout, which is slightly heavier at the folds, and a few tiny spots. Map measures approximately 17.25" x 14" (H x W) to the neatline.
