Antique hand colored comparative map of the mountains and rivers of the world, published by Orr & Company, drawn by Dower, c. 1849. At this time Mount Everest's height had not yet been calculated and the source of the Nile had not yet been identified. Lake Victoria was found by Europeans in 1858. The tallest mountain on this map is Kunchinginga at 28,177 feet (Everest is 29,029 ft.). The pyramids are included in the lower left side to give a sense of scale. Very good condition with mild toning and some other minor signs of age. Approx. 8.25 x 10.25 inches to the neatline.
