High-quality hand-printed and hand colored reproduction of an antique map by Matthaus Seutter made in 1730. Double hemisphere map of the world, surrounded by several smaller maps displaying various projections. Features windheads and unusual shapes for several locations, including Japan and Australia, and with California as an island and a mysterious Terra Essonis in the North American northwest. Made using a combination of modern technology and traditional methods, wherein an original is scanned, its likeness is digitally etched onto an engraving plate, then the plate is used to print the image in the traditional way, with a printing press. The print is then hand colored. Measures 19.5 x 22.5 inches to the neatline. Entire page measures approximately 22" x 30".
