Antique uncolored map of Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands, Massachusetts. Also includes Woods Hole and Bedford (New Bedford). By De Crevecoeur, engraved by Tardieu, 1787. From an English version of the book called Letters from an American Farmer. This charming map of Dukes County features roads, meeting houses, topographic information, and "The Great Beach against which the Sea cotinually (sic) beats." The numbers on this map correspond to information in the book. The (no longer complete) book can be purchased with the map for an additional $300. This map is in very good condition with a few minor stains. It has been archivally restored- cleaned, deacidified, and backed with a light-weight tissue to give the map strength.
