Maker: SDUK/Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge.
Antique hand colored map published by the SDUK/Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. Lovely detail showing water bodies and landforms, as well as towns and political divisions. Interesting features: this map was made shortly after the Aroostook War that settled the northern boundary of Maine and on this map the word Quebec stretches into northern Maine (this is a British map). Also, in the west is a note: "The Indians report this country to be full of small Lakes and Streams." Very good overall antique condition, 12.25 x 15.5 inches.
