Antique stream of time chart created by Sebastian C. Adams. First published in 1871, this is the third edition, corrected up to 1881. It shows a timeline of world history, beginning in 4004 BC and updated up to 1881. It includes stunning chromolithograph pages of biblical history and history of the great empires which are synchronized with each other, thus synchronological. It begins with Adam and Eve and stone-age tools, drawings of eminent historians, old world map showing major countries, and diagrams of different languages. It follows various religions, cultures, and civilizations, filled with illustrations and interesting events. End sheet includes a history of the American States (very short compared to the overall history), pictures of all of the presidents, pictures of world sovereigns, and lists of US History and Eminent Men Not Mentioned Elsewhere. This was updated in 1881 and includes the newly elected president James A Garfield with his expected presidential term 1881-85, however Garfield was assassinated in September of 81. This was made and published during his short presidency before he was killed. Good overall antique condition with wear along folds and some small areas of image loss (especially at 1300AD), outer boards are in good condition, although separated, with some wear. The paper has a somewhat glossy surface (probably a light varnish on the paper to protect it) which was illuminated by the lighting when taking photos, so please forgive the slight glare on the right and left sides. The entire book - chart expands to 271" inches! The final image shows an idea for display. Overall dimensions are about 271" x 27.5" or 22 1/2 x 2 1/4 feet.
