c. 1708
Maker: Moll
Framed antique map of New England by Hermann Moll. We believe this to be the 1708 edition of this map. Later editions were published with the title in slightly different locations and other variations. This excellent early map features old boundaries that stretch directly north, with West New Jersey and East New Jersey, Pensilvania, a very slim New York, and New England comprising the Massachusetts Colony apparently in the area of Vermont and New Hampshire, COnnecticut Colony noted in western Mass., and Plymouth Colony covering Rhode Island and Cape Cod. Long Island and Cape Cod have delightful and unusual shapes. A list of notable towns appears in the lower right. This is a fantastic map for any collection. It is in very good condition with some overall toning and folds as issued. We have not removed this map from its frame, but it appears it may have a repaired seam separation through the word "Western" in the ocean. Measures approx. 7 x 10 inches to the neatline and approx. 12 x 15 inches to the outer edge of the frame.
