Antique map of western Russia by John Speed, engraved by Lamb, 1676, sold by Bassett & Chiswell. Impressively framed, with an inset plan of Moscow and vignettes of views and local interests. Shows the North, White, Black and Caspian Seas. Many cities, towns, forests, mountains, and waterways are noted. Decorative cartouche with figures. A previous owner incorrectly penciled a date of 1626 near the title (the 1626 version would not have been engraved by Lamb and would have been sold by Humble). Hand-coloring appears to be original. Approx. 15.75 x 20.25 inches to the neatline. Approx. 21.25 x 25.5 inches to frame edges.
