Genuine Antique Hand Colored Map

1775

Maker: Universal Magazine.

This hand-colored antique map was published in The Universal Magazine in October of 1775 (vol. 57, p. 169). Features of interest include the irregular shape of Cape Cod, where Wellfleet is listed as Belinsgate (which would later become Billingsgate), a pre-fill view of Boston, where Charlestown is listed as being "in ruins", and a camp icon near Worcester noting "March of the Provincials". This piece is in good antique condition with even overall toning and four stains along the right margin from old tape. It measures approximately 12 x 15.5 inches. Matted with neutral mat. **SOLD**
