This map was published in 1879 in the Annual Report upon the Geographical Surveys of the Territory of the United States West of the 100th Meridian... by George M. Wheeler, US Army Corps of Engineers. Shows roads, railroads, rivers, buildings, land owners, the Sutro Tunnel, and more. The Sutro Tunnel begins at Dayton, Nevada and connects 3.88 miles (6.24 km) Northwest to the Savage mine in Virginia City, Nevada. It pioneered the excavation of large drainage and access tunnels in the US. Good antique condition with a few repairable seam separations along the folds. Clean overall with just a few small stains. Paper is fragile. Approx. 21.25 x 17.5 inches to the neatline.
