Genuine Antique Lithograph Print

1894

Maker: US War Dept..

Full title: Plate 126. Photographic views of and vicinity of the Capitol, Richmond, Va. taken May, 1865, Libby Prison at Richmond VA (north side and south side) taken May, 1865 and Post Hospital, City Point, Va., 1865. Seven views of Federal Forts around Atlanta GA. Antique lithograph by Julius Bien & Co published in the Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies published under the direction of the Hon. Daniel S. Lamont, Secretary of War, 1894. The atlas was published as a companion piece to the Official Records of the American Civil War. It contains maps and other images derived from materials generated by both Union and Confederate military personnel during the American Civil War. The atlas was printed in 35 parts between 1891 and 1895. These are lithographic recreations of photographs. Very good condition with mild image transfer, a few minor spots/stains and a touch of foxing, and some staining and wear to the paper edges. This sheet has paper added over the titles of the two lower left images, most likely to correct a mistake in the printing plate. Measures approx. 16 x 27 inches to the outer border lines.
