Antique uncolored map of France, by Tavernier, c. 1637. This detailed map of France shows cities, towns, provinces, with topography and cities shown pictorially. The map appeared in Tavernier's Theatre Geographique. It features a classic decorative pattern in the ocean, ships, a handsome compass rose, and decorative cartouches. Very good restored condition, map has been cleaned, deacidified, and lightly backed (thus repairing some small seam separations). Some minor signs of age remain, including mild stains and slight waviness of the antique paper. Measures approx. 14.75 x 19.5 inches to the neatline. Special Sale! Was $525, Now $450!
