Genuine Antique Print

1849

Maker: Illustrated London News

Antique page of illustrations from The Illustrated London News, August 11, 1849. The top illustrations shows a view of Cork, Ireland. The bottom shows Queen Victoria's first visit to Ireland. Queen Victoria visited Ireland four times during her lengthy reign. The first, and perhaps most important, of these took place from the 2nd to the 12th of August 1849, in the later years of the Great Famine. During the 11 day tour, Victoria visited Dublin, Cork, and Belfast. In Cork she visited Cobh which was renamed Queenstown in her honour. Cobh known from 1849 until 1920 as Queenstown. This page could be folded to display only one of the images when framing. Very good condition with minor signs of age. Recent hand-coloring. Page measures approx. 16 x 11.25 inches.

Note: any "rainbows" or strange patterns in the image are called moire pattern- caused by taking a digital photo or scan of the many parallel lines in the print- these are not in the print and we can try to take more photos if you are concerned.
