Antique hand-colored map of the northeast copyrighted 1839, from Mitchell's School and Family Geography, published by Thomas, Cowperthwait & Co. Colored by state with counties, cities, and towns marked. This map was published during the Aroostook War, when the US and Great Britain were settling the Maine border, and this map shows the boundaries proposed by Great Britain, the US, and the King of the Netherlands. Good condition with minor toning, some tiny spots, and a stain on the left side. Approx. 10.5 x 8 inches to the neatline.
