Maker: Bellin / Van Schley
Antique map of the west coast of India and a portion of the southern coast of Persia (now Iran and Pakistan) by Jacques-Nicolas Bellin and engraved by Jakob van der Schley. It was published in 1747, as part of a Dutch edition of Bellin’s atlas and was later published in Raynal's Atlas Portatif (1773) with the number 16 at bottom right. Dutch title below the map: Kaart van de Kusten van Persie, Guzaratte en Malabar. Excellent detail of the coast with notable places marked, it shows the area from Bandar-e-Jask in Iran to Cape Comorin India and the Maldives. The large decorative cartouche features a sea horse, a merman, and a sea monster. Very good condition with folds as issued. Measures approx. 9.5 x 7.75 inches to the neatline.
