Antique hand-colored map, from S. Augustus Mitchell's "A New Universal Atlas, Containing Maps of the Various Empires, Kingdoms, States and Republics of the World, With a Special Map of Each of the United States, Plans of Cities, etc.", 1849. This was before West Virginia split from Virginia. At top is a profile of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal. Very good overall antique condition with minor toning, mild stains, some small tears at paper edges. A previous owner added some pencil marks. Measures approx. 16 x 13 inches to the neatline.
