1832
Maker: Hinton, Simpkins
Antique map of Florida published by Hinton, Simpkin & Marshall in 1832. The title of this early map is misleading because in 1832 Florida was a territory and not a state. There are only a few counties designated in the southern portion including Monroe County in the far south, and Mosquito County taking in most of the east coast. Seminole Indians are shown in Central Florida and an Indian Path connects the Tampa vicinity with the east coast above a town named Florida near present-day Miami. Very good antique condition with some tiny spots, slight waviness to the antique paper. Hand-colored. Measures approx. 8 x 9.5 inches to the neatline. Matted - measures 14.25 x 16.25 with mat.
