Antique map of New Zealand by Bellin from the Dutch edition of Prevost's "L'Histoire Générale des Voyages" circa 1790. This map was first published in 1773 as part of John Hawkesworth's 'an account of the Voyages for making discoveries in the Southern Hemisphere'. A dotted line depicts Cook's voyage and New Zealand's mountainous landscape is clearly presented. Rhumb lines converge at two points. A detailed legend can be found in the upper right. Recent hand-coloring. Very good antique condition with some very mild spots, some slight toning at the paper edges. Measures approx. 18.5 x 14.5 inches to the neatline.
