Antique map of Massachusetts and Rhode Island published by Joseph Meyer in 1846. With original hand-coloring by state, this map shows cities, some towns, railroads (this was quite early for railroads, and the only railroads on the map connect Boston to Lowell, Worcester, and Providence), canals, and the major carriage roads. Inset map of Boston in the lower left with a list of references to public buildings, churches, hotels, hospitals, etc. The text within the map is in English and the text for the title and scale of miles are in German. Nantucket is accidentally misspelled as Nantucet. Very good antique condition with some tiny minor spots. Matted. Measures approx. 11.75 x 14.75 inches to the neatline and 18 x 21 inches including the mat.
