Antique print showing a scene on the coast of northern Queensland, Australia, from Captain James Cook's first Endeavour voyage, 1768-1771. In June 1770 the 'Endeavour' was badly damaged running aground on the Great Barrier Reef. The ship limped into Endeavour River on the coast of New South Wales for repair and the voyage was continued. This is an engraved recreation of the original drawing by the HMS Endeavour ship's artist Sydney Parkinson This copperplate engraving was published by Alexander Hogg, circa 1784. Hand-colored. Very good antique condition with a tiny hole in the upper right, some small spots. Visible plate mark. Measures approx. 6 x 10.5 inches to the neatline.
