Antique hand colored map from "Atlas of Physical Geography" published c.1850 by Petermann and Milner. This map shows the major wind currents of the world, and the regions of trade which are informed and influenced by them. A smaller inset map focuses on the southern tip of North America and Northern region of South America to better highlight the North East and South East Trade Winds. Also includes an excerpt detailing Maury's Circle Sailing, navigation routes proposed by Matthew Fontaine Maury. Very good antique condition, with some signs of age (foxing in the margins and spots/light staining.) Measures approximately 10.5 inches by 14 inches.
