Antique map of the area near Chesapeake Bay from circa 1685 by Robert Morden. In 1680, Robert Morden published a map identifying the counties of Maryland and Virginia. The useful and popular map was updated many times until 1689 for use in atlases. The key in the lower right corner lists counties in Virginia and Maryland. Morden’s book was successful due to its small size and affordability. Measures approx. 5 x 4.75 inches to the neatline, printed on a page that measures approx. 8 x 6 inches and has text.
