Antique hand-colored map of the northeast copyrighted 1844, from Mitchell's School and Family Geography, published by Thomas, Cowperthwait & Co. in 1851. Colored by state with counties, cities, and towns marked. Inset maps of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland &c. (No. 7), Vicinity of Boston & Providence (No. 9), and Vicinity of New Haven & Hartford (No. 10). Various ships are illustrated, including the Mayflower, a whale ship, and a steamship traveling between Boston, Halifax, and Liverpool. Good condition with minor toning, some tiny spots, and a small separation along the fold on the right side. A previous owner left some pencil marks in the right margin. Approx. 16.5 x 11 inches to the neatline.
