Antique hand-colored map of Southwestern Asia including the Middle East, Arabia, India, and as far east as Malaysia. Political boundaries are not defined, but areas are labeled including a large Armenia. With cities and some topography. The Caspian Sea is erroneously depicted as a horizontal. The Ganges is shown flowing north-south. Decorative cartouche with a putti. Engraved illustration of St John the Baptist being beheaded and the crucifixion in the background. By Christophorus Cellarius (C. Keller), probably from the decorative 1732 edition of Geographia Antiqua, containing maps illustrated with scenes of History, Mythology or Religion. Fair to good antique condition with foxing. Measures approx. 8 x 12.25 inches to the neatline.
