Antique map of part of Newton, MA, Mass., from the Atlas of the City of Newton Massachusetts From Actual Surveys and Official Plans, published by G.W. Bromley & Co. in 1895. These maps were created for tax and insurance purposes and the buildings are coloured by type- the color key was only included on the index map, but pink is brick, yellow is "frame" or wood, purple/grey is stone, and a building with an x through it is a stable or shed. Each property is labelled with the property owner's name. Includes Tremont St, Washington St, and Centre St, part of the Charles River, and Farlow Park. Shows roads, railroads, hills, bodies of water, etc. Overall good condition with surface soiling, some minor stains, some wear along the center fold and a small seam separation at bottom. Paper loss at upper left where the leather tab had been and a stain at the upper right where the leather tab touched. This map has pencil written notes, changes, and calculations. Measures approx. 20.5 x 30.5 inches to the page edges.
