(Appendix 65) Engineer Department, Headquarters Army of the Potomac, July 28th, 1864 / (Appendix 66) Part of the line of the U.S. Forces, July 29th, 1864 / Positions and Operations of the Artillery, Army of the Potomac, July 30th, 1864 including a List of Batteries in position before Petersburg, VA / Reconnaissance beyond the Chickahominy at Bottom's and Railroad Bridges, May 21st, 1862. Antique lithograph by Julius Bien & Co published in the Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies published under the direction of the Hon. Daniel S. Lamont, Secretary of War, 1893. The atlas was published as a companion piece to the Official Records of the American Civil War. It contains maps and other images derived from materials generated by both Union and Confederate military personnel during the American Civil War. The atlas was printed in 35 parts between 1891 and 1895. Printed color indicates topography and Union or Confederate locations. Most of these maps are located near Petersburg, Virginia. Very good condition with mild image transfer, a few minor spots/stains and a touch of foxing, and some staining and wear to the paper edges. Some mild vertical folds that are barely noticeable. Measures approx. 16 x 27 inches to the outer border lines.
