Full title: Plate 68. Battle plans, defensive lines and general plans of Fort Burnham VA, Five Forks VA, Cobb's Hill VA, Bentonville NC, and Gravelly Springs AL. Antique lithograph by Julius Bien & Co published in the Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies published under the direction of the Hon. Daniel S. Lamont, Secretary of War, 1893. The atlas was published as a companion piece to the Official Records of the American Civil War. It contains maps and other images derived from materials generated by both Union and Confederate military personnel during the American Civil War. The atlas was printed in 35 parts between 1891 and 1895. Printed color indicates topography and Union or Confederate locations. Also included is a map showing position of Pontoon Bridge on which the Army of the Potomac crossed the James River, and a chart of the obstructions in the Cape Fear and Brunswick Rivers and the Batteries commanding them. Very good condition with mild image transfer, a few minor spots/stains and a touch of foxing, and some staining and wear to the paper edges. Measures approx. 16 x 27 inches to the outer border lines.
