Antique map of the Holy Land, from the city of Beirut to the city of Gaza, by Abraham Ortelius, 1586. Includes the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem, Nazareth, and many more cities and towns. The decorative cartouche features scenes from the life of Christ. The scale of distance is ornamented with the head of Medusa. In the lower left is a dramatic depiction of Jonah and the Whale. Beautiful hand-coloring. Handsomely framed. Very good antique condition with some waviness to the antique paper. Measures approx. 14.25 x 19.75 inches to the neatline and 22.5 x 28.5 inches to the frame edges.
